We were founded to provide full-service architectural solutions for the Pokagon Band and tribes across Indian Country. We serve tribal citizens with a focus on culture, healthcare, education, and housing.
With multiple tribally-owned SBA 8(a) companies, our Buildings Services teams have over 10 years of past performance serving the missions of federal agencies, including the VA, BIA/BIE, NPS, and USACE.
Bodwé Group invest in the places we live. We partner with community development organizations, private healthcare systems, and commercial developers to serve our neighbors at home.
Bodwé Group provides a full range of architectural services along with other experts in our Buildings Services Branch. We also collaborate seamlessly with our in-house engineering teams, providing you with one point of contact for even complex projects and programs.
We are well-versed in the intricacies of additions and renovations. Bodwé teams have designed new clinics in old strip malls, helped restore significant buildings for the federal government, and completed major additions to large-scale urban hospitals. From initial assessments and design to programming and construction, we understand how to navigate the complexities of working with existing spaces and systems while seamlessly incorporating additions and planning for future expansion. We renovate with space and energy efficiency in mind and bring to life new additions while keeping existing facilities in operation.
Research has long shown that connection to nature supports healing. We believe that natural and biophilic design strategies play an essential role in building programs that seek to provide comfort, safety, and community, particularly healthcare and learning environments. Biophilic design can help sooth stressful and emotional situations by harnessing natural forms, mimicking natural patterns, and opening to natural light. Through a biophilic approach to design, we build connections to the natural world, reflect organic surroundings, and connect to the natural rhythms of life and its traditions.
In partnering with many tribal nations, we are inspired by the many ways in which their communities live, learn, remember, celebrate, heal, and care for each other in relationship. This has taught us that every building is an opportunity to build upon culture, whether the project is a tribal school, urban mixed-use development, public riverwalk, or veterans hospital. Bodwé teams take the time to engage our clients as well as the people they serve to learn what ties them together and creates belonging, including shared context, history, stories, and dreams.
The Bodwé family of companies works with Indigenous, community, and federal clients nationwide, and healthcare projects make up the core of our expertise in each of these markets. Our design experience extends from small clinics and supportive housing to hospital additions and ambulatory care campuses. We advocate for progressive planning for growth, expansion, and repurposing, and we are adept at collaboration, including with those who are underrepresented, uncomfortable sharing, and even untrusting. Whether master planning a site, creating a community wellness center, or renovating inpatient spaces, Bodwé designs effective and efficient healthcare space and place that uniquely reflects the community it serves.
Bodwé Buildings Services partners with clients across the country on projects of all types and sizes, from rural community centers and park pavilions to multi-story mixed-use developments and large-scale hospital additions. We design innovative, customized solutions that begin with a collaborative approach to form alignment around project vision and goals, regardless of facility size. As an integrated family of companies, we work together from pre-development, concept design, and site development through interior design, systems engineering, and construction documentation. Our experience in project delivery methods includes traditional design-bid-build, design-build, integrated project delivery, fast-track, and phased delivery, and we follow through with robust construction administration capabilities.
Bodwé Group is part of Mno-Bmadsen and wholly owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. Our mission is to serve the more than 6,000 Pokagon citizens through growing the economy and legacy of the Band and our commitment extends to more than 50 Indigenous clients as well as a multitude of partners and friends from coast to coast.
Focusing on clients that offer us preference as a result of our tribal ownership by the Pokagon Band is essential to our growth. Through our 8(a) contracts and other set-asides, the Bodwé Group has successful past performance on hundreds of projects for many federal departments and agencies, and our Federal Support Services business grows significantly every year.
Core to our Buildings Services capabilities and expertise, Bodwé healthcare experience spans over a decade and includes projects with tribal partners, federal agencies, and private clients. Our teams have designed and programmed campus master plans, VA hospital renovations and expansions, large-scale IHS primary care facilities, tribal community clinics, and more.
Teams across Bodwé have comprehensive experience with campus planning, site development, educational and athletic facilities, student dorms, and staff housing. Over the past several years, our partnership with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Education has expanded from condition assessments to building design and site development to modernizing federal design standards.
Our housing work is as diverse as the clients we serve. The Bodwé family of companies has experience that includes suburban neighborhood development, urban lofts, large mixed-use residential, and tribal housing, including many forms of supportive housing. This work is core to the Bodwé mission and our commitment to sustainable culture and communities.
For decades, WBK Engineering has partnered with municipalities and private clients to develop sites and create community. Today, our Building Services and Infrastructure Services teams are engaged in planning and development work that crosses the country, serving local, federal, and Indigenous clients with an approach that integrates people, place, and planet.
While serving clients and end users at project sites from coast to coast, we also serve the places where we live and work. We offer our time and financial support to community organizations, and we welcome the opportunity to engage with partners on buildings, recreation, and site development projects that support and uplift people, culture, and community.
Our mission is to benefit future generations of Pokagon citizens and with that long view in mind we choose the often-hard work of doing what’s meaningful and good. We choose it again and again to benefit wellness and missions and opportunities for people.
