(St. Charles, IL, March 6, 2025) – Bodwé Professional Services Group has announced that Bodwé company WBK Engineering (WBK) was named the 2025 Medium Firm of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Illinois. The award was presented at the ACEC Illinois Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on Thursday, February 27, 2025, attended by more than 500 professionals involved in constructing infrastructure across the state.
WBK has been a trusted engineering partner in Illinois for nearly three decades, providing expertise in civil engineering, water resources, transportation, and environmental services. The company has led several significant projects throughout the state, including flood mitigation efforts in Kane County, roadway improvements for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway (Tollway), and various ecological restoration initiatives in the Midwest. As a company rooted in integrity, innovation and collaboration, WBK has played a key role in delivering sustainable solutions to infrastructure challenges across Illinois and the United States.
“We take great pride in the work we do and the relationships we build with our clients and communities,” said Greg Chismark, PE, president of Bodwé Infrastructure Services Branch and WBK Engineering. “It’s an honor to be recognized by ACEC Illinois for our contributions to the engineering industry. This award is a testament to the expertise and dedication of our entire team.”
The winning firms were selected based on three criteria: contributions to the success and growth of ACEC Illinois, advancement of the consulting design profession, and community involvement. Over the years, WBK has been an active and engaged member firm of ACEC Illinois. Through involvement on key committees such as the Tollway, IDOT, and DEI groups, WBK has helped develop policies and initiatives that benefit the consulting engineering industry and support the overall mission of ACEC Illinois.
WBK has also previously been acknowledged by ACEC Illinois for its project work, receiving the 2022 Lincoln’s Grand Conceptor Award for the ATC Enhancements and Pedestrian Bridge over the Fox River. This project was recognized for its innovative approach, high-quality execution, and significant positive impact on the community. WBK leverages the broader capabilities of the Bodwé family of companies – including architecture, planning, and construction management – to deliver solutions that are innovative and community-focused.
“As part of Bodwé, WBK continues to set the standard for engineering excellence,” said Jeremy Berg, president and chief operating officer of Bodwé Professional Services Group. “Their leadership in the industry and active involvement in organizations like ACEC Illinois demonstrate our team’s passion for creating impactful design solutions.”
