Structural engineering expertise and experience with bridges and more

Our structural design team services range from feasibility assessments and conceptual planning through final design and plan production. Our experience includes many highway and pedestrian bridges, culverts, tunnels, and retaining walls, as well as load ratings for public agency bridges and culverts. We are an IDOT-approved Element Level – Program Manager for the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH), responsible for the inspection of more than 100 county structures.

Bodwé structural engineers assist our water and dams team on private and public projects related to dam safety, dam inspections, and flood control design modifications to existing dams. Our work follows FEMA, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Reclamation, and State Dam Safety guidance requirements.

The Bodwé bridges and structures team has a wide range of expertise in foundations, retaining walls, and earth retaining system design including alternative studies, cost-benefit and life-cycle-cost analyses.

With an Illinois-certified NBIS program manager and team leader on staff, Bodwé offers bridge, culvert, and ancillary structure inspections, delivering reports and inventory documentation for municipalities, counties, IDOT, and the Illinois Tollway. We serve as the NBIS Program Manager overseeing Cook County, Illinois bridge inspections, reporting, inventory documentation, and emergency repairs. We also develop comprehensive matrices for short- and long-term rehabilitation and maintenance to assist municipalities with prioritization and future funding planning.
