(DOWAGIAC, MI, Aug. 22, 2023) — Bodwé Professional Services Group has hired award-winning architect Douglas Roeder as the new federal architecture and engineering (AE) practice leader. The position is a first for Bodwé Group, which is part of Mno-Bmadsen, the non-gaming investment enterprise and a wholly owned instrumentality of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. Roeder will report directly to Karl Kowalske, president of Seven Generations Architecture + Engineering (7GAE), one of five Bodwé subsidiaries. 7GAE specializes in architecture, planning, interior design, research and design consultation, and spearheads Bodwé AE business in the federal market.
Roeder, whose appointment was effective in late June, will lead the growth and development of the Bodwé Group federal AE practice in business development, project leadership and client relations. His responsibilities will include creating strategies to expand Bodwé opportunity in the federal sector and developing competencies for Bodwé to successfully diversify its business interests and revenue streams for future generations of the Pokagon Band.
Roeder is a licensed architect and hands-on leader with over 30 years of experience focused in healthcare, architecture management, design, planning and development. His federal experience includes leading U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs projects as well as Design-Build-Initial Outfitting projects as part of numerous Multiple Award Task Orders for the U.S. Air Force’s Air Force Medical Readiness Agency’s Medical Facility Modernization Program. He has also worked with U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers program directors to ensure successful implementations of program and project goals.
“7GAE was founded 11 years ago as a small, entrepreneurial start-up,” says Kowalske. “Today the Bodwé family has 150 employees and we continue to invest in improving our ability to serve our clients and staff.”
“Historically, we have been the prime contract holder with our federal clients — we have strong past performance and take pride in the level of service we provide to our clients,” says Kowalske. “Looking forward, we will continue to leverage our tribal ownership and other partnerships to position our business for new opportunities.”
“With his significant experience in the federal market and other practice areas, exceptional leadership skills, and energy, Doug will be an asset to our team,” says Kowalske.
“I’ve come on board at Bodwé to strategically seek partnerships with larger firms competing for unrestricted government contracts and need reputable, qualified small business partners to provide support and services of exceptional quality, including meeting diversity requirements,” says Roeder. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead Bodwé excellence in the federal market.”
